collaboration with community about the future
A pop-up ‘Future Street’ experience featuring emerging technologies and initiatives successfully engaged the local community on Council’s major projects.
Building on the success of the first Future Street event held at Circular Quay in 2017, Place Design Group were engaged to transform the plaza outside Bankstown Station into an interactive ‘Future Street’ experience. It showcased a greener, more people-oriented street enhanced with smart technologies such as charging equipped smart benches, solar powered bins, smart poles, e-scooters and e-bikes.
Working in close collaboration with Council and product suppliers, Place Design Group delivered a seven-day activation to give the local community a glimpse into a potential future and spark dialogue on the City of Canterbury-Bankstown’s projects and aspirations. The activation demonstrated how the community can be genuinely engaged to inform how the public realm and emerging technologies can deliver better future streets.
