future street vr

Funded by the Australian Government and in partnership with AILA, Smart Cities Council and the Internet of Things Alliance Australia, Place Design Group researched, conceptualised and led the design and build to deliver a real-life experience of a street from the future. Following on from the event, we created a video to further distribute the ideas of Future St to a wider audience in a digital format. Helping to connect those that could not attend the event in person with the exciting concepts.

Future Street served as a major showcase for the NSW Government, the City of Sydney, AILA, the Smart Cities Council and Place Design Group on what our cities and streetscapes will look like in the coming decades.
With thousands of Sydneysiders visiting the space, Future Street advanced knowledge for the industry and all Australians on where the future is taking us. From 12-15 October 2017, Sydney’s Alfred Street near Circular Quay was transformed into a street of the future as part of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture (AILA)’s 2017 International Festival.
As part of the event, we developed a virtual reality experience to illustrate the power of this new medium to evoke a powerful connection to the potential of a space. Using CGI we created a futuristic version of the street to show how technology could work with our public spaces to create a fully realised smart city.Architecture (AILA)’s 2017 International Festival.
