We would like to acknowledge the local Butchulla people. We pay our respects to Elders past and present. We celebrate the practice of First Nations design and systems management that have occurred on this land for tens of thousands of years. We are guided by the first scientists, planners, designers, and land managers of this land. We acknowledge the responsibility we hold as custodians of the land and aim to create places for future generations to flourish.
introduction
Creating with people
leveraging digital experiences to engage
How do you interact and engage? Have you considered how digital tools can be used to create richer experiences? In this talk, Place Design Group’s Maddy and Alyce will highlight digital tools and the people we engage with. Drawing on their experiences as designers/planners, they’ll explore what it could look like if we integrated human-centred approaches with digital technologies to create more accessible, dynamic and future-thinking experiences.

how we define community engagement
Community engagement is a planned process with the specific purpose of working across organisations, stakeholders and communities to shape the decisions or actions of the members of the community, stakeholders or organisation in relation to a problem, opportunity or outcome.
Digital is less about the thing and more of the way of doing the thing.
— anything with a screen - your phone, the retail billboard, your laptop.
— interactive, moving, dynamic, relevant and engaging.
— about unlocking growth, seeing the possibility and constantly evolving the way in how we engage, connect and interact.
