Place Design Group was commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning to deliver an animation that conveyed the benefits of performance-based systems through events or actions that the community themselves would relate to.

Through a careful design strategy implemented at the start of the project, the planning and communications specialists created a series of characters to make the concept of performance-based planning more accessible to the non-planning audience the video was intended for.
Using this strong foundation, the team then created a 2D animated video that presented various events or actions that illustrated how a flexible planning scheme could help the wider community. By taking the concept of performance-based planning into more broad reaching perspectives, Place Design Group managed to convey why the flexibility exists and to clarify misconceptions about the flexibility of planning frameworks and processes in Queensland.
