Victoria Park Visionary Ideas

Brisbane Rockpools

Brief

Place Design Group were invited by Brisbane City Council to contribute a visionary idea for the future parkland as part of their broader visioning and community engagement process. Drawing inspiration from our regional landscape character and taking best advantage of the undulating landform of Victoria Park, The Brisbane Rock Pools was conceived as an exciting parkland idea.

A sub-tropical rockpool for all to enjoy
Located in a major gully at the heart of the park, the Brisbane Rock Pools re-introduces a chain-of-ponds that was once present where the Inner City Bypass is today and re-imagines a sub-tropical rock pool setting as a dynamic playscape for families and people of all ages to enjoy.
Connected by shaded gully walks and hilltop bridges that offer expansive city views, The Brisbane Rock Pools will complement a wide choice of other parkland activities and experiences, which could include settings and venues for urban art, live music, adventure play and sport as well as retaining the existing golf driving range and reception venues.
